Welp, I turn 28 tomorrow. It’s weird that I’ve never really “felt” like I was getting older until last year, when I turned 27. It may have had something to do with that fact that I got married three days before my 27th birthday, so, holy milestones.
But, anyway, I can tell I’m getting older and here’s why. When I thought about my birthday wish list this year, the things that jumped to mind included “fuzzy slippers” and “warm blankets” and mugs to sip my tea out of on Friday nights while I wear my fuzzy slippers and wrap myself in warm blankets. Plus, a journal that reminds me to “carpe diem.”
And I’m ok with that. Because, for one, my tastes are way better now than they were ten years ago, when all I really wanted for my birthday was a puffy Northface, Ugg boots and a box of wine. And two, because in the grand scheme of things, I know I’m not really that old. I know this because the slippers that I want have sleeping bunny faces on them, and I still can’t afford that Chloe bag. Not. even. close.
