So I’ve always wanted to go to a big music festival–sun, friends, and good music, what else could you ask for? So when I was invited to Bonnaroo this year, I jumped at the chance to go. It wasn’t until I started googling “what to bring to a music festival” and “what to take on a camping trip” that I realized it was definitely going to take more than a weekender bag to be prepared for four days of tent-sleeping and party-rocking in the South.
Here’s what I eventually decided were my essentials.
1. A Good Bikini
Since the weather is going to be upward of 90 the whole time, a bathing suit is a must.
You can’t really go anywhere in the summer without a good pair of sunnies, and these Free People ones have been my go-to lately. They’re a cool twist on the classic aviator, and the magenta rim is a fun pop of color.
3. Portable Charger
If there’s one thing I know about my iPhone it’s that it tends to die pretty quickly, and with all the pictures I’ll be taking this weekend, this charger will pretty much be a lifesaver.
4. Makeup Wipes
Since there’s no showers (eeek) I packed extra makeup and baby wipes so that I can try and stay clean.
5. Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo saves my life on a daily basis, so I know without any hair products and tons of humidity my hair is going to need some serious dry shampoo love.
6. Suntan Lotion
Being Irish doesn’t give you the best luck with the sun, so SPF 50+ will be my best friend this weekend.
7. Lightweight Shorts
I packed quite a few pairs of cotton shorts for the trip (might have gone on a serious shopping binge in the last few weeks). But these cute shorts are definitely my favorite, and they fit all the festival requirements (comfy, cute, and lightweight).
While some people may be going barefoot or with a simple pair of sandals, I think booties are my best bet. You never know what you’ll step on, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Plus these Vince Camuto boots haven’t steered me wrong yet!
