On this last day of April, we are bringing our bridal-focused month to a close, and I could not have hoped for a better woman to finish with a bang than Molly Guy. Guy is the mind and bride behind the lauded bridal shop and dress line “Stone Fox Bride,” and if you aren’t following them on Instagram…well you should go do that now. And then read on for more on Guy’s success, and more stunning photos of some of her favorite Stone Fox Brides.
After Guy’s own engagement in 2010, she noticed a distinct gap in the wedding market in her hometown of Manhattan. There were no bridal shops for women with “edge, beauty and style.” And thus her mission began! While she admits that her own wedding was actually pretty traditional, she has helped many brides since then create an image and style for their big day that is all their own. But this way of life can extend beyond becoming a bride. Guy’s advice will help make any woman – wedded or not – a stone cold fox.
On bridal style:
On her favorite pieces:
Guy loves colored bridal looks for spring, including pastels like pink and blue, but says she is OBSESSED with Stone Fox Bride’s Caitlin dress. She’d be wearing it everyday if she could.
(Personally, I also have my top Stone Fox looks for the season: The Johanna for spring brides, and their Ryan Roche Cashmere Sweater dress for everyday. It would be perfect for cuddling up by the first bonfire of the season.)
On sweating the details:
Guy is very into vintage piano shawls and Edwardian lawn dresses for this season, and with her attention to detail, and with her relationship with the Big Apple’s top ateliers and the world’s top designers, she can make such requests for unique styles. Luckily, this is why women are flocking to her showroom: to find that one-of-a-kind look that is truly “them” and that they know will be crafted with care.
Her hard work, and detail-obsessed mindset has paid off. The brand has been featured in fashion magazine like LUCKY and InStyle, is a go-to for a wide range of bridal publications, and is listed as “Best Anti-Bridezilla Bridal Showroom in New York” by Time Out New York. And that has only led to growth and new ventures..
“Stone Fox Bride was originally launched as a small concept shop on the Lower East Side that would offer unconventional wedding dresses created by high-fashion designers,” Guy begins. “But after two years in business we have expanded into a lifestyle brand — as well as designing our own line of rings, dresses and veils.”
On her best clients:
When asked to name some of her favorite brides, Guy names five right off the bat before admitting, “The list goes on! It’s so hard to choose just one!” She remembers the “foxy, hilarious, down-to-earth, gorgeous” nature of some of her brides, but for others it’s all about the fashion. And that spans from “amazingly epic veils with hand-sewn vintage lace and imported tulle” to another lady in her Glenda dress looking like a “look like a classic rock angel groupie.” She remembers each bride as if it were her own wedding.
This passion for each woman whom she works with is summed up in the mission statement for Stone Fox Bride…
We are a team of women who design for women — short, tall, curvy, small and everything in between. Love is what we live for. Our goal is for all brides to walk down the aisle in truth and in style.
Bride or otherwise, to be known as a Stone Fox woman is a rare and wonderful thing indeed.
