With bikini season coming up way faster than I’d like, I figured that May was the perfect time to try a new workout and my first ever We Tried It post.
Let me start off by saying I’m a true yoga fanatic and while trying out a Pure Barre class has been on my ever-expanding to do list for months now, I was still a little hesitant to break from my typical workout routine. But with beach weather (almost) here and everyone’s raving reviews of the classes, I knew I had to give it a try.
One afternoon last week, I popped on over to the Newbury St.studio in my favorite yoga pants and tank with my water in hand ready to get some serious toning in. While I was prepared for a ballet-type routine, I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a total body workout it really was (seriously it kicked my butt)! It reminded me of combination of Pilates and yoga, with some ballet bar work thrown in.
The details: The class consisted of short series of exercises for each of the main muscle groups: arms, thighs, seat, and abs. Most of the exercises you’re using little to no weights, but don’t let that fool you–you definitely still feel the burn. I found that the hardest part was at the bar– all of the squats were intense in the best way possible (but hey, I’m that much closer to being beach ready).
After effects: When I was done the class, I definitely felt like I had gotten a work out in (my thighs were burning for days and my arms felt toner after just the hour long session). I can see why everyone says it’s so addicting–I can’t wait to try another class!
Glad I can say my first “we tried it” experience was a success!
If you want to try it out for yourself, you can get more info and class schedules on the site.
