I will say that, as a fall birthday girl, I have been a big pumpkin fan since I was little so I was very excited to test out the treatments at the dana. But for those of you who aren’t quite as pumpkin gung-ho, fear not! The scent of the pumpkin facial wasn’t overpowering during the treatment and I left with my skin feeling extra smooth and nourished.
Then I spoke with the dana’s Spa Director Emily about their seasonal offerings, including the Pumpkin Enzyme Facial and the Apple Cider Manicure, to learn more about why these treatments aren’t just seasonal and scent-ual, but also really good for your body.
TELL US ABOUT THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF PUMPKINS?
Pumpkins have natural enzymes called Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) that help exfoliate the skin. The AHA’s increase cell turnover to smooth and brighten the skin. They are also packed of Vitamins A & C, which are common skincare ingredients that boost collagen production to prevent aging.
AND OF APPLES?
Apples are extremely rich in antioxidants and are naturally hydrating to the skin. Apples also have a high content of collagen and elastin, which help brighten and reverse signs of aging.

WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THESE TREATMENTS?
I would always want our guests to feel relaxed and stress free after any treatment offered at the spa. I think the nail and facial treatments help increase both relaxation and self-esteem. Adding the seasonal aromas is a nice way to take it up a notch while fighting the signs of aging and making people feel beautiful.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TAKING A SPA DAY?
They go hand in hand. Massage is known to improve blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to your cells. It also releases Serotonin, the hormone that makes us feel happy. So not only are treatments de-stressing, they can help us think and be more efficient too. Facials & exfoliating treatments incorporate massage movements in addition to promoting cellular renovation, which brightens our skin and makes us look and feel healthy.
SO THAT MEANS WE SHOULD TAKE TIME TO TREAT OURSELVES, RIGHT?
