The little black dress. It conjures past images of Audrey Hepburn in Old Hollywood glamour, and now Jennifer Aniston’s timeless class. It’s also the easiest fashion choice no matter the season. So before the weather gets too cold, here are our tips for rocking the classic look with your own personal spin.
I was so excited to spend the day at Arlington Raceway with one of my favorite foodie bloggers, Lauren Neal of BitesFromMe2U, a few weeks ago. Some ladies would have showed up to the races in floral or pastels, but not us. Nope, we rocked those LBDs.
Lauren put a classic spin on her look with a fit and flare style that was easy and fun to twirl in! She picked it up from Banana Republic and added a pop of leopard with her Kate Spade heels. Then a touch of sparkle here and a great pair of shades there, and you have her sophisticated style, perfect for the race track.
I tend to be a little more loud so I chose to add some color with brights. My LBD is a fitted, but comfortable dress, from Leith at Nordstrom. It has just the right amount of stretch and is super soft to the touch. The midi length is all the rage this season, but that means shorter girls like me absolutely must pair it with heels. They’ll give you the extra boost in height and tightness you need.
Then I added some color with one of my favorite Henri Bendel purses (similar style here) and Chrissy Teigen-inspired shades. Aviators keep the classic feel of the LBD, but that pop of color keeps that style my own.
Here are some more easy tips for upgrading your LBD this season:
- Update your little black dress with bold statement accessories (like my purse!)
- Style it up with a belt
- Pair it with sneakers
- Try a bright red lip
- Pair your little black dress with animal-print cool-girl staples (like Lauren’s heels!)
- Throw a tailored jacket over your little black dress
- Make it a colored jacket!
And then some outtakes (because who can try to be glamorous all the time?!)
