I’m from Connecticut. The land of polo shirts, pastel cable knits, Ralph Lauren … and loafers. People from Connecticut have loafers in their souls, and I am no exception. However, as much as I love a good slipper, boat shoe or driving moccasin, I also don’t think my personal style is preppy or, ahem, mature enough to carry off traditional versions of the style. I may be from the nutmeg state, but I’m no Stuffy Muffy. So, I always look for loafers with a fun or edgy spin. Which is why I fell in love with this spiked pair from TopShop this spring.
Unfortunately, though, I wore them to death after a few months. So I was super excited to find myself a replacement pair: these colorful slippers from the Gap. They’re suede, but still lightweight enough for summer, and the color makes them perfect for fall, too. The best part is, they’re only $40, so I’m planning to buy them in a few more colors to avoid wearing this pair out, too.
