Dating apps these days seem to be the missing link to finding that needle in the haystack. But if you want better odds than that, it might be time to try Spritzr.
While the majority of dating apps on the market are geared toward matching you with other singles in your area, Spritzr gives your friends the opportunity to play cupid – because let’s face it, sometimes friends have a better perception of what’s good for us than we do.
After downloading the app you’re prompted to pick a team – “Matchmaker only” or “dater and matchmaker.” I picked “matchmaker only” and was connected to my Facebook friends. From there you are able to pick one of your friends that might be in need of a little lovin’ and “suggest someone” you have in mind.
Friends that don’t have Spritzr will get a notification letting them know of the match. They can then choose to download the app and pursue the match or ignore it. Users also have the option of receiving match suggestions from the wider Spritzr community. If you try finding someone this way, three people must suggest the same person to you before a request is sent your way.
Once a match occurs, users than gain Karma points, which basically entitles them to matchmaker bragging rights and a shout out at the happy couple’s wedding.
What I like about Spritzr is the ability to make more of a long lasting connection instead of just a weekend hookup. Adding friends into the equation of finding love provides a little bit more reliability because of the mutual connection that’s already there.
Plus, Spritzr eliminates one of my main issues with other dating apps: wondering if someone is exactly who they say they are. I think that having an inside source who actually knows the match makes it easier to know if you’re really compatible.
Another thing that can benefit users from the aspect of getting matched by a friend is the option to go on a group date rather than a solo date. I always feel more at ease on a group date because there’s less pressure when it comes to first impressions. It also gives you an easier out if it doesn’t seem like it’s going to work.
After one too many uncomfortable Tinder dates maybe it’s time to let our friends take the front seat of our love lives for better or for worse.
