It hasn’t quite hit summer weather yet (c’monnnn sunshine!) but we are preparing for one jam packed with lots of adventurous fun, warm weather fashion, and delicious food. To get you ready for your best summer yet, we found easy morning cocktail recipes from our friends at Red & Brown. They took us beyond mimosas for cocktails you’ll love sipping on the front porch or patio.
For those who can’t start the morning without a little bit of caffeine…this coffee comes with a kick
- 2 oz Irish whisky
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 0.5 oz boiling water
- 4 oz hot coffee (we love Starbucks Verona)
- Heavy whipping cream
- Grated nutmeg for garnish
In a coffee mug, add the simple syrup, boiling water, coffee and whisky. Then stir thoroughly.
Separately in a shaker, pour about 2 oz of heavy whipping cream and shake for around 15 seconds or until thickened. Then, gently float the cream on top. Top with grated nutmeg.
This baby originally hails from New Orleans so you know it means business.
- 1 oz brandy
- 0.5 oz dark rum
- 2 teaspoons simple syrup
- 2 dashes vanilla extract
- 4 oz whole milk
Fill a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and add the simple syrup, vanilla extract, brandy rum and finally milk. Shake hard for 20 seconds.
Then strain into a pint glass or tumbler filled halfway with ice. Add nutmeg on top as a garnish, and a festive straw (optional) for a boost of color to start your day. If you’re a bourbon fan, this can also be made with bourbon instead of brandy.
Ramos Gin Fizz
This is for the fruity drinkers who like a little sparkle in their morning
- 1.5 oz gin
- 1 teaspoon simple syrup
- 0.5 oz lemon juice
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 1 fresh egg white
- 1 oz heavy whipping cream
- 3 drops orange flower water
- 1 oz club soda
In a shaker (no ice) just add the simple syrup, lemon and lime juice, cream, egg white and gin. Shake for 30 seconds.
Add cubed ice and then hard for another 30-45 seconds (it’s an arm work out too!) until it gets frothy.
Strain into a glass with cubed ice and top with the club soda. Stir gently.
