Winter white has been taken to the next level this season with full length white gowns, white tuxedo pantsuits and even sparkling white makeup a la Jennifer Lawrence at Sunday’s Golden Globes. But just because J. Law rocks the trend, doesn’t mean you should be afraid to. Even in the heart of this frozen season, the Golden Globes red carpet was full of white on all sorts of famous ladies. Here’s how we recommend wearing it on your everyday red carpet…
The key to winter white is all about rocking it with confidence. From Mrs. Channing Tatum’s amazing post-baby bod to Kerry Washington’s baby-to-be bod, lots of women proved that winter white is a trend to be reckoned with this past weekend. As a an all-over color or with splashes of black or gold, this striking hue can be worn a number of ways even off the red carpet.
White dresses and skirts don’t have to be snow white, with cream and even eggshell as options. For a skirt, choose longer looks like midi or even a white maxi in flowy fabrics. You can also make your spring and summer white dresses go further by throwing a sweater on over or layering a turtleneck underneath.
In terms of jackets, you can either go with a statement overcoat in white or add sass to an all black outfit with a white blazer. Statement winter coats in shades from emerald to pink have been all over runways and street style blogs, and now is the perfect time to jump on that bandwagon with a white winter coat. Add a colorful scarf to spice it up!
If you’re not sure if you want to fully take the winter white plunge, dip a toe or a finger in with white shoes, accessories or even just start with nail polish. No matter how you begin or where the hue takes you, the main thing is that you stop being afraid of the winter white!
