This month, we’ll be highlighting four of the biggest spring fashion trends we’ve spotted on the runways, on blogs, and in the pages of magazines, one week at a time. See how to wear them right, and shop the perfect pieces to get the look.
Next up, fringe. This bohemian-inspired style was all over the Spring 2015 runways, popping up on everything from shirtsleeves, to capes, to handbags, and mini dresses. Whatever way you wear it, fringe screams fun, but the detail is surprisingly versatile: in suede, it’s hippie chic; in leather, it’s tough; while flapper-style fringe feels vintage and refined.
Below, the best ways we’ve seen the worn down the runway, modeled on the street, and hanging in the stores.
On the runway:
This Proenza Schouler look was one of our favorite examples of fringe, and proved that tassle-inspired style can be sleek and sophisticated.
For a more daring take on the trend, take a cue from this suede mini dress by Giambattista Valli and rock fringe from neck-to-knees.
Isabel Marant showed a more feminine, vintage take on the look with a flapper-inspired skirt.
On the Street:
The fringe skirt seems to be the favorite way to wear the trend among the fashion set. For proof, a few photos from NYFW Spring/Summer 2015.
And an almost identical version paired with the cutest baseball tee we’ve ever seen.
Olivia Palermo, never one to shy away from a trend, rocks a suede version.
How amazing is the fringe on this bag?! We couldn’t identify the brand, but if anyone knows who makes this lovely little bag and wants to let us all know in the comments section, you’ll probably have a few dozen instant new BFFs.
For a more casual take on the style, we love the laid-back, hippie vibe of these outfits.
