It is upon us: the holiday that every single girl dreads for the other 364 days of the year. The D-Day of all holidays, a 24-hour reminder that we are eternally alone, and probably like pizza more than we should: Valentine’s Day.
And no, we’re not suggesting an anti-valentine’s day party, but instead, embracing this day and celebrating all the things you do love: food, friends and wine! We’re certainly not fans of the inevitable, soul-sucking PDA we’ll have to endure, or the looks of pity from co-workers when we tell them we’re not sure what we’re doing that evening, but we are a big supporter of confetti-throwing, and laughing with friends. So, we’ve created a survival guide to mentally prepare for when Glen Coco has 4 candygrams delivered at work, and us, along with Gretchen Weiners, get none.
In order to survive this ordeal, we’ll need a support system, and tonight we’re calling them accomplices. Check out this list for some hot Chicago happenings for the single ladies, and make some fun plans! Go in, stay out, but whatever you do, we’ll combat the day of love with the eternal love we have for our best gals (or guys!).
The second most vital ingredient to this recipe is obviously alcohol. Since coffee and wine are the answer to 97% of my problems in life, we’re hitting up the latter option for this February celebration. I can’t wait to try out this festive and fabulous cocktail courtesy of Glitter Guide with all my galentines!
3. Heart-Shaped Pizza
Because heart-shaped pizza. But also because I am relatively certain that a pizza can provide more love and comfort than any boyfriend.
4. Midnight Tickets to 50 Shades of Grey
Nothing screams single quite like rolling into 50 Shades with your 12 best friends.
5. Valentine Cards
Jokes aside, man or no man, this day is all about love. Send some love out to your long-distance friends with a hilarious card and tell them how much you wish they were here to drink heavily at 50 Shades of Grey with you.
6. A Mani & Martini Combo
Speaking of love, Valentine’s Day is a heck of an excuse to spoil yourself! If you’re in Chicago, hit up Polish & Pour or Beauty Bar with your galentines for a drink while you TreatYoSelf. There’s no better day for it.
7. Flowers For Dreams
You might be thinking flowers have nothing to do with a single girl’s Valentine’s Day other than watching your co-workers get them from doting husbands and boyfriends while at work. Lucky for you that isn’t the case this year…
We’re obsessed with Flowers for Dreams at Lux & Concord- and for various reasons: the first is that their arrangements are unparalleled. And I don’t say that lightly- each bouquet is so unique, with popping colors and the coolest combination of flowers. Did I mention it’s incredibly affordable? Every delivery is free, and the best part (in my humble opinion) is that a portion of each and every bouquet benefits a charity.
And even better, is Flowers for Dreams wants to make sure all us single ladies get a special delivery on this day of love too! In order to be the lucky recipient of one of their stunning bouquets, you’ll have to like and comment on the picture we post to our Instagram (@luxandconcord) one day next week. You’ll also have to follow @flowersfordreams in order to be eligible to win. Check in with our Instagram for the rules!
Plus, our favorite flower company created a custom 10% off code for you lovely ladies! the code is luxandconcord for the special discount!
Happy (almost) Galentines Day, my L&C loves!
