New Year’s Eve has always been one of my favorite holidays. The sparkle and shine, and the freshness of new beginnings always makes me excited. And whether you’re going out on the town with your squad, or staying home to host your own fling, it’s the perfect time to add a little sparkle to your night. Here are some easy tips!
Add quick festivity to your home with a few well-placed bits of sparkle. We love anything in rose gold, like this line from Pier 1 Imports, because it looks great around the holidays, but also is perfect for a summer barbecue. Match it with a set of cute napkins, and re-use your Christmas decorations to make a fun ornament garland to hang for a fun photo backdrop!
Then it’s time to get sparkling! New Year’s Eve is traditionally the time for champagne, which of course, is almost always a good idea. If you want to mix it up though, a light rose is also a great option to pair with light bites, or even an appetizer with a little more spice. We recently found Tariquet Rosé and served it in these cute stemless glasses.
Or, if you’re not a fan of bubbly (gasp!), we also have some sweet and easy cocktails you can make for a pre-party drink or at-home soiree…
Pour equal parts Bas-Armagnac Chateau de Tariquet VS and orange liqueur into a champagne glass, then fill with champagne. Stir gently with a bar spoon or festive stirrer, like this one from Pier 1 Imports. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry or two (or three!)
For those of you who aren’t familiar, Tariquet VS is similar to cognac. The VS actually stands for “very special” and represents the age of the liquor.
A True French 75
Combine 1.25 ounces of Gonzalez Byass The London N° 1 Gin with 0.5 ounces of lemon juice, plus a spoonful of simple syrup. Add these to a Boston shaker and top with Charles Heidsieck NV Brut Reserve. Shake ingredients minus the champagne in Boston shaker, double strain into champagne flute, and top with more Brut.
And if you need last minute outfits, you still have time! We love stores like Topshop and Zara for a quick shopping trip, but you can also still order dresses online from Amazon, so long as you have an Amazon Prime account. Our top picks are:
- A cute cap-sleeve number that could double as a flapper costume next Halloween
- A lace fit-and-flare (now on sale!) for a fancier evening dinner
- Full-on sequins that comes in a variety of shades for extra sparkle
- Velvet is one of the season’s hottest trends, and this style leaves lots of room for dancing
- Go for comfort in this sleek jumpsuit that you can wear year-round
No matter what you wear or how you celebrate, remember to always be safe…so you can welcome 2017 with style!
