Editor’s note: We’ve been slacking on the Chicago side of the L&C lately…we know. But there’s a good excuse. Our co-founder and Chicago blogger, Merisa, got an awesome new gig managing social media for Dana Rebecca Designs (swoon), and understandably, wants to devote her attention there. We still love Merisa, and she’ll probably be back with a post every once in awhile. But, to keep the posts coming, we’ve tapped another of our favorite Chicago ladies (you’ve also seen her name on this blog before, since she’s contributed a few fashion posts), Kaleigh Glaza. And we thought, what better way to introduce Kaleigh that to see what she loves about her city.
Hello, Lux & Concord readers! My name is Kaleigh and I am happy to announce that I will be your new resident Chicago correspondent. Having been a Chicago girl my whole life, I am so happy to be able to bring a little bit of knowledge and a look inside the fun Chicago lifestyle to you all. Get ready for the inside scoop!
To start, I’m quickly sharing some of my favorite Windy City spots, some of them famous, and others less well-known, but all of them with a real place in my heart…
Favorite View: The skyline view from The Adler Planetarium is perfection. If you’re not a fan of heights (like me) the Willis Tower will have nothing on this stunning cityscape view.
Favorite Sweet Tooth Spot: A girl has got to have her cupcakes and Sweet Mandy B’s is a favorite of mine. Their cookies and rice crispie treats are great too!

Chicago Classic Food: This city is known for all its delicious food and many gourmet restaurants, but my favorite place in the city for Chicago food is Portillo’s. It’s the best place to get a classic Chicago hot dog or Italian beef, and their chocolate cake is life changing.
Favorite “Dancing Queen” Spot: I love trying new places and taking advantage of all of the cool spots in Chicago, but I think I would go to Untitled every night if I could. Its old school vibe is only made better by the huge cocktail menu, plus the name makes it feel very exclusive.
Shopping Heaven: For the downtown lady without a budget, Oak Street is the perfect place to find high-end designers and cute boutiques. But I also have to give a shout out to my hometown of suburban Glen Ellyn and Ali Kat Boutique (that’s it in the picture at the top of this post). I’ve been going there since high school and it’s never disappointed.

Chicago Clothing Must Have: Though I think this vintage Chicago Cubs hat is a must-have for any TRUE Chicagoan (take that White Sox), what you really need is a heavy winter coat to keep the wind a bay this coming winter!
But even with the cold and wind, this is my city and I love it! And that’s why I can’t wait to share some of it with you in my upcoming posts…
