As the weather gets warmer, the potential for activities and events grows with every passing day. Summer is the time for festivals, trips, dining al fresco, concerts, rooftop bars and more, so it can be hard to decide just what to do! You don’t want to miss out on the next big thing, but it’s also important not to overpack your schedule. Luckily for Chicagoans, there’s a new app that can help you organize your calendar with only the best and the newest. Enter Sosh, your summer guide to the city.
Though not in every major metropolitan area, Sosh launched in Chicago this spring and describes itself as a “personal concierge for one’s social life, curating the city’s best activities and making personalized recommendations tailored to each member’s unique interests.” The app is free and when you first sign up, it allows you to list interests and activities you enjoy. You can then “Bookmark” things you’re interested in, and “Love” things you’ve already done and enjoyed. These help the app make further recommendations that will be perfect just for you and your city!
Katrina Kurnit, who runs marketing for the app, is excited to introduce the app to Chicago, a city she thinks is perfect for this new way of going out.
“From Alinea to Lollapalooza to the Art Institute, Chicago is home to the country’s top dining, musical and cultural destinations/events, generating an amazing proliferation of talent, passion, and interest for discovery. Not only are there countless artisans and merchants doing incredible things, but Chicagoans are actively seeking them out and hungry to have new experiences.”
The app has everything from pasta-making class with a famous chef to cocktails at a new speakeasy to LED-lit rooftop bars. Plus, the app bases its recommendations for you on your likes and past activities you’ve enjoyed, not on advertising. So you know you’re getting the real deal.
Their latest recommendations for the month of June include everything from a beer and film fest to an outdoor movie night to an after hours bike ride to sunrise. My favorite finds include sorbet and Prosecco cocktails at the West Loop’s Lone Wolf, happy hour pizza at The Florentine and the Andy Warhol and Marisol exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Rishi Mandal, co-founder and CEO of Sosh, says the app is about “sharing wonderful experiences with the people you love” and I can’t think of a better way to do that than try new things in my favorite city! It’s the perfect summer pal that knows all the best spots in town.
Kurnit seconds that emotion. “Sosh is all about helping people discover and share meaningful, incredible experiences with the people they love. It’s personalized, curated, inspirational, beautiful, and easy to use – like a personal concierge for your social life.”
And Boston gals (along with our LA ladies), be on the alert, as the app should be coming to your city soon! You’ll love all the new places you find in a city you thought you already knew so well.
You can download the app here or in the app store on your phone! Get on it and start planning your most fun-packed summer yet!
