Right now, I’m dying for a home office. I work from my house a few days a week for my day job, I blog, I have a couple of freelance clients I write for on the side, and I do all of this while perched on an ergonomic disaster of a Lucite stool (I require the occasional massage to relieve the knots in my back), while working on my laptop from a bar table (that doubles as my dining table).*
*I’m definitely not complaining about working from home. It is possibly the greatest thing ever, and I feel pretty lucky that I get to do it, even part-time. I’m just pretty sure that with a little extra leg room, a big desk, a comfortable chair (or just one with a back on it), and a printer/scanner/fax combo, I’d be unstoppable.
Alas, my baby-sized Southie condo has no room for a home office, or I would most definitely have one. And if I had one, I’d decorate it just like this.
The home office essentials: A padded Louis XVI-style chair from Wisteria and a Hainsworth throw blanket (always cold), a big antique desk from Ethan Allen, and some good lighting (also from Ethan Allen). Plus, the extras: An Oliver Bonas clock to keep me on track, books to keep me inspired (these are from Etsy), flowers (in a vase from Jayson Home) and art (via West Elm) to keep me happy (and also chocolate for that reason, not pictured).
While we’re at it, the office would also have a little seating area, anchored by this Union Jack rug from Jonathan Adler and this print from Oliver Bonas. And a bookcase with these ceramic gold books, these coasters from Mark & Graham and this table lamp from Z Galerie. I am also really into graphic prints (if you didn’t notice), so I love this pillow from Joss & Main. Anyway, that’s what’s on my wish list today. What would you do with an extra room?
