Italian leather. California wine. New York pizza. There are certain regions that just do things better than anywhere else in the world, and the latest geographic product obsession is hailing from South Korea. Korean skincare products, to be exact. There’s been a craze over them that last few years–they bring new science and formulas not typically seen stateside, and have throngs of online beauty vloggers and top magazine editors singing their praises.
Of course, trying any new skincare product is a risk, especially one from a brand you aren’t super-familiar with and that’s wrapped in packaging you can’t understand. The good news: ULTA recently launched a K-beauty section in three of its Chicago stores designed to make it easier than ever to navigate the new gold standard in skincare.
The store did its due diligence and selected six Korean beauty brands to feature in new prestige K-Beauty sections based on a combination of price point, quality and effectiveness. A few of the ones that look most promising to us: the COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid, SKINRx LAB MadeCera Cream, and Salmon Skin HydroGel Eye Patches. The K-beauty areas are only in select ULTA stores, but you’ve got three in Chicago to choose from: locations at North & Sheffield Commons (1000 W. North Ave.), Clark & Wellington Shopping C3015 N. Clark St.) and Roosevelt Collection (1107 S. Delano Court).
