Aaand we’re back. After taking a hiatus to move across the country (oh, heeeey, Boston!), I’ve finally settled enough to (hopefully) blog again. There’s been a lot I’ve missed the past few months, but right now, I’ll just focus on this week. Here’s the top news.
1. Vogue announced it’s annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. These up-an-coming designers are now vying for a chance at $300,000, not to mention the career opportunity of a lifetime. Past winners have included Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler. This year’s finalists are:
Andrea Lieberman of A.L.C.
Greg Armas of Assembly New York
Sofia Sizzi of Giulietta
Justin Salguero, Daniel Silberman & Alina Silberman of Illesteva
Jennifer Fisher of Jennifer Fisher Jewelry
Jennifer Meyer Maguire of Jennifer Meyer
Max Osterweis & Erin Beatty of Suno
Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman
2. Project Runway returns today for its 10th season. Judge Michael Kors has called designer Christian Siriano his favorite alumn.
3. People keep talking about Ralph Lauren’s China-made uniforms for Team USA.
5. Speaking of Project Runway, jcpenney announced that judge Nina Garcia will serve as the curator of the company’s fashion collection.
