Happy Friday! Before you settle in to the long weekend with your spiced cider and your fall festivities, here are all of our favorite fashion news stories from the week, including Blake Lively’s not-so-secret pregnancy announcement and John Galliano’s new role at Margiela.
1. Blink and you may have missed it: Blake Lively sneakily announced her pregnancy this week on her website with an adorable photo of her holding her teeny tiny baby bump. The post was all about celebrating the joys of family, and unless you scrolled all the way down, you just might have missed Blake’s own mommy-to-be photo (Preserve).
2. Bachelorette writer Leslye Headland is teaming up with Cosmopolitan EIC, Joanna Coles, for a new NBC pilot about “a failed political blogger who restarts her life in New York as the ‘sex’ editor for a prestigious women’s magazine”…hmmm sounds a lot like a T.V. love child of The Hills and The Devil Wears Prada… is it too early to DVR it? (The Hollywood Reporter).
3. Leave it to Barney’s to one up the holiday party game and transform the Central Park Zoo into a fairy tale wonderland for their annual holiday event. With Baz Luhrmann at the helm of the party’s creativity, we can’t even imagine what kind of Great Gatsby-esque glamour this party will involve (Fashionista).
4. Although the runway shows are over for now, that doesn’t mean that there is any less commotion in the fashion world. In the latest of two changes of creative directors, Nina Ricci confirmed that Guillaume Henry, now former creative director at Carven, will be taking over Peter Copping’s former role. John Galliano, never one to shy for the spotlight, also announced that he would be taking over direction of Maison Martin Margiela. This is beginning to feel a lot like musical chairs, no?
