The weather is getting colder so it’s the perfect time to start planning fun nights in. While bars and restaurants can be exciting, sometimes you just need a night in with the girls. This is our plan for the perfect ladies night in, complete with food, fun and just the right amount of pampering.
Step One: Location
Choose a location with plenty of room for festivities so we recommend either the house/apartment with the most room or to take your night in…out! We worked with the AC Hotel downtown Chicago to book a room with a view and a bathroom designed for spa treatments. While this option is a little more expensive, you can find hotel deals online, and having your night at a hotel makes it more special.
Step Two: Food and Drink
No night, especially a night in, is complete without a good meal. Plus, any girls’ night is the perfect time to kick back and indulge!
Start with a cheese plate because (a) its fun to pick at throughout the night and (b) it goes well with wine! We picked up the king of all cheese plates from Pastoral, another local Chicago company that blessedly ships nationwide. Select a variety of cheeses and toppings so no matter what drink everyone has in their hand, there will be a cheese to match.
After the appetizers, it’s all about the desserts. Some people might have an actual meal in between those two courses, but if you’re as serious about dessert as we are, you won’t be able to wait. Thanks to our friends at Siena Tavern and Bar Siena (hi Fabio!) we noshed on gelato and bomobolonis, which are mini donuts made from heaven. Picking bite sized options makes it easy to chat and eat!
Step Three: Pampering
With the right tools, you can make your own mini-spa right in the bathroom so long as you narrow your beautification focus. We highlighted:
- Setting the mood: With candles that we had going all night. Pick a seasonal scent like these Cozy Candles from Farmhouse Fresh and keep them burning all night for a warm and welcoming vibe.
- Giving our skin some loving: Instead of a full on facial, we picked up a variety of face masks from 7th Heaven, a brand that has one for just about every skin care issue or wish imaginable from hydrating to brightening. Our favorite was the Argan Oil Mud Mask made with antioxidant-rich acai berries.
After that prep, we continued to pamper our skin with Brandy Pear Sea Salt Body Polish and the All Purpose Balm, also from Farmhouse Fresh.
- Getting photo-ready smiles: Though your teeth are not always something you think about when prepping for a night of beauty, they are one of your most important body parts! You’ll never have an Insta-worthy grin without pretty teeth! Crest 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste system gives a whiter smile in just two easy steps: step 1 deep cleans and step 2 is a whitening finisher.
- Smelling like daisies: Pinrose perfume comes in a variety of scents perfect for mixing and matching to find your perfect one! We loved playing with the travel wipes, with our favorites being the signature Pinrose scent as well as Pillowtalk Poet.
Step Four: Girltime
The best part of the night is always the people you’re with! I was so lucky to be joined at The AC Hotel with blogger friends like Katie of Little Black Blog and Heidi from Wishes & Reality as well as two of my non-blogger (but still fabulous) babes. We had a ball catching up, jumping on the comfy beds, and eating all the gelato we could fit in our stomachs. Thank goodness I wore my favorite baggy plaid from PPLA Clothing to leave room for all the belly laughs and sugar highs.
Huge thanks to our adoptive member of the Girls Night tribe, photographer Chelsea Bliefernicht. She was just as fun to hang out with as she was professional behind the lens. So happy to have you in Chicago, and happy to have all our girls together for a fun and fabulous night in!
