Let’s face it, mornings are the worst. There’s no way around it. I’m certainly more of an afternoon nap type of gal, but everyone knows that a good start to your morning can lead to a more productive and healthy day. So we became tried and true sunrise experts to help plan a perfect morning no matter what your schedule…
It’s one of those fated mornings where you wake up before your alarm goes off and feel ready for the day. The heavens have shined on you, so make the most of your extra time and get your day off to a peaceful start:
Find your center: Meditate or journal for ten minutes to help clear your head and center your thoughts for the day ahead. This is also a great time to set your daily to do list.
Make real coffee: Not the instant kind or the kind a barista hands you. Fill your house with the scent of just made coffee beans by doing a simple pour over morning cup of coffee. You can get coffee beans ground at most coffee shops, including Starbucks.
Boil water in a teakettle to get started. We love this one that’s electric so water can be easily reheated. From there, all you need is a dripper, which you can place over your favorite mug. Add a standard coffee filter and your ground beans, then pour the boiling water slowly over the dripper and into your waiting cup. More detailed steps are here.
Make your breakfast: Yes, that’s right, cooking before 9 am. But it’ll be worth it in the end with this recipe from Luca Manfe, of Bauil Pandoro pastries. Her Pandoro Blueberry Trifle makes eight servings, so you’ll have leftovers for the days when you don’t have the time.
2 slices of Bauli Pandoro, cubed
1½ cups of Chobani Blueberry Greek Yogurt
¾ cups of light whip cream
3½ cups of blueberries
1. Whip a light heavy cream to stiff peaks and stir in some Chobani yogurt.
2. In a dish or glass, layer one-third Cream & Yogurt mixture, cut one slice of Bauli Pandoro into 1/2 inch cubes and add in half of the blueberries. Repeat and top with remaining Cream & Yogurt mixture.
3. Chill 30 minutes or overnight before serving.
Right on Time
This isn’t too bad, though you probably still had a bit of a start when that alarm went off. But you’re on schedule and still can (hopefully) pull together a cute work outfit and grab a coffee without missing the train. Here is what we recommend to keep the morning going seamlessly:
H20 Baby: Water with lemon helps you feel awake even after you’ve left bed, and also stimulates your metabolism. Keep it at your bedside or have a glass chilled and ready in the fridge.
Get grooving: Put on a morning mix and dance to your favorite song! Our picks for July are on Spotify now!
Take a sweet treat for the commute: We love the mini Bauli Croissants, which are stuffed with everything from chocolate to strawberry and are prepackaged so you can just grab what you need as you head out the door.
Don’t settle for office coffee: You have time so stop for an iced coffee or tea like Starbucks new Mango Black Tea Lemonade (oh so refreshing).
It happens to all of us: You snoozed one too many times or just straight overslept. So now it’s getting to the down and dirty, absolute must-dos to get out the door and be at your desk on time. Let’s do this.
Choose makeup that goes the extra mile: Think Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting Foundation (both a concealer and a foundation) and glo therapeutics Suede Matte Sticks (moisturizer and add lip tint). You shouldn’t have to sacrifice beauty for speed.
No time to make or stop for coffee, so make it on the go! Starbucks has VIA Iced Coffee packets that you can make literally in your elevator ride down from your apartment. Just mix it in and get hustling.
