This month, we’re focusing on all the wonderful ways women can, and do, give back every day. To prove that everyone and anyone has time to do lend a helping hand, we’ve tapped some of the busiest, most successful women we know to find out how they give back, in the hopes they’ll inspire us all to find ways to do good.

The Causes I Work With: “I work with a number of organizations, from the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum to the Chicago Children’s Choir, Tickled Pink for Bright Pink and the Chicago Children’s Museum.”
How I Help: “I’m involved in a lot of ways! I have always loved that my jobs throughout the years from working at Chicago Social magazine and SPLASH to now owning my own business have allowed me to very active in the philanthropic community in Chicago. Sometimes I am hired to promote an event but a lot of times I choose to sit on the board and am able to incorporate my clients. It’s so nice to give back personally and include it in my everyday. It’s the most powerful thing I could ever work on – giving back to our community, helping to save lives and making the amazing arts & cultural experiences we have here in the city available and accessible to everyone, especially the children!”
Why I Love the Organizations I Work With: “I am passionate about every organization I work with for different reasons. Every year I walk in the Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk – Purple Stride, because my mom is a Pancreatic Cancer survivor. I see first hand how every dollar that goes to research truly helps save a life. My mom is alive because of the technology we have today that allowed her to survive one of the most horrific and fast killing cancers out there. It is a miracle of modern medicine. And I am so grateful.
I have always believed in the power of the arts but now more than ever – having a child of my own. No matter what financial situation we may have – I couldn’t imagine a world without play, make believe and fun. The Children’s Museum at Navy Pier provides this for everyone! It does not discriminate – it is a place for all kids to enjoy and play. Same with the Children’s Choir – I am in total awe of Choir Director Josephine Lee and the power she has and has given to these children! They sing all over the world. The choir provides them with an outlet, friends with common interest and something to do after school! There is nothing more amazing than seeing the Children’s Choir live in action. They are so talented. I could go on and on and on about the others as well!”
Why It’s So Important to Give Back: “Everyone has to take time to give back. I can’t think of anything more important in life. Every time you receive a gift, you should be giving back in some way. There is no excuse! Even if you truly can’t find the time and just volunteer over the holidays, that is something! There are far too many problems in this world and challenges for others to allow someone not to give back. We must lead by example and show the next generation that there are no excuses – we are on this world together. We need to lend a helping hand when there are others in need. And there are always others in need!”
How Others Can Get Involved: “There are SO many ways to give back. Here are links to the organizations near and dear to my heart. It’s wonderful to find organizations that spark your interests, passions and tug on your heart strings. It makes giving back that much more rewarding!”
