I mentioned this very briefly in my last editor’s letter, but, my husband and I recently bought a house. Not a condo in the city, but an actual house, with bedroomS plural, a backyard, a basement, and a driveway. And for the first time in eleven years, my address is not in a major city. It’s 12 miles outside the city. AKA, in the ‘burbs.
But, I’m excited. The house is perfect*, the town is right on the water, and I can still see the city skyline from a hill down the street.
We also kept our condo in South Boston, so we’re now landlords.
So, yea, July was a big month.
*When I said the house was perfect, I mean in theory. It’s got all the makings of my ideal home, I just need to work them out a bit. My kitchen might have wood paneling from the 1970s, but the living room has an amazing fireplace. The windows might be old and broken, but the hardwood floors are original and gorgeous. A little TLC and she’ll be a beauty.
Because I’ve been up to my hairline in paint, sandpaper, and West Elm catalogues, if you haven’t guessed already, our theme for August is going to be … home décor! And DIY projects. It’s a natural fit, and I’m excited to show off my new little house, wood paneling and all. 🙂
First major decision? Do I do black or blue in the living room? Help! (For all sources in these collages, check out our Polyvore account).
