Last year at this time, I wrote an editor’s letter about a big move: I left Boston for Seattle for a year-long adventure with my husband, whose job required us to be on the West Coast for a bit. Now, I am SO EXCITED to share that in just a few weeks, we are moving back to Chicago! Chicago is where this blog originally started in 2012, where the majority of our writers live, and where I think Lux & Concord was meant to be.
So what does this mean for the site? As you probably guessed, it’s going to get a lot more Chicago-centric. We moved away from that for a while when myself and a bunch of our other editors were spread out around the country, but with my moving back, it just feels right to bring back our original mission of creating “lifestyle content with a local focus.” Plus, since I left Chicago, a lot of the great sites that provided city-specific content are no more: Cheeky Chicago closed up shop, Refinery29 and Racked both left the city to focus on their national content. But there’s still so many inspiring people, incredible places and great things happening in Chicago! So we’re going to work hard at bringing them to you.
Think: More local Women We Love and We Tried It features, reviews and rundowns on the city’y best spots for everything from cocktails to clothes and fitness to facials, plus tips and ideas from our favorite tastemakers and influencers. We’ve also launched a brand new Chicago events calendar so you’ll be able to see all of the great things coming up around the midwest in one spot. (Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have something you want listed!)
If you don’t live in Chicago, however, fear not. We will still have our girls Nicole and Becky contributing style and trend pieces that aren’t location-specific, too, along with the occasional updates on what’s going down in Boston and LA.
All-in-all, I’m hoping this will be fun, more focused new direction for us. Thanks for reading!
