We’re at least a decade into this Chicago Winter, no?
We’ve been wrapping our faces in plaid blanket scarves in desperate hopes our fellow commuters might mistake our wind burn for intentional winter-chic fashion since November. And in a stand of solidarity, we have unanimously made an unspoken vow that the ol’ “it’s gonna be 40 degrees on Saturday, omg it’s a heatwave!” joke has a) never been heard before and b) is always funny. And of course, you can’t get through Chiberia without the unwavering support of passerbys who give you “the nod,” – like, you look like a bundled up idiot, but so do I and we’re in this together. Because Chicago winters. And because misery loves company or something like that.
All this to say that while other cities have begun casually perusing for Spring wardrobe additions- while we Chicagoans are apt to dream- the reality is that we have at least 4 more months of frigid temperatures ahead of us. Plus lots of precipitation. Plus sub-zero wind chill… you get the point. We’ve accepted our fate and have taken it upon ourselves to get excited for Sweater Weather 2.0 by finding the cutest boutiques around Chicago to up our cold weather game.
These unique little shops are Chicago native and have a solid understanding of our “I’d ideally wear a warm pair of pajamas today, but also need to look socially acceptable in an office setting” dilemma. And we love them for it. And also love them for having a strong sweater game to help us cope with all this Chicago winter. Here’s 4 Cute Chicago boutiques to help up your sweater game the rest of this winter:
Nestled on Armitage, near Depaul campus area, is the absolute cutest store where we guarantee you will blow all future paychecks on their sweaters like this bell sleeve sweater or this classic cardigan. To be totally trasparent, they have locations in a handful of other states as well, but we’re biased to this location, and their adorable fashion.
This totally unique-to-Chicago boutique has killer sweaters and jackets that you can’t really get anywhere else. Next time you’re in Wicker Park make sure you stop by (and say hello to this amazing olive jacket).
Also a Wicker Park little-known favorite, Moon Voyage is a small boutique with a boho-chic vibe we can’t get enough of. Plus, it sits kitty-corner to Big Star, and a post-shopping marg is never a bad idea.
Again, this adorable shopping haven has a handful of locations in other states, but it’s a little-known Chicago spot making a big splash in Windy City fashion (and also a big dent in our wallets). We can’t get enough of pieces like this olive green cowl neck!
Are any other Chicago boutiques killing the sweater game this Winter? We’re always on the lookout for brand new must-shop spots!
