There is nothing like coming home after a long day and collapsing into bed. Let’s be real, half the time I’m anywhere that’s not my bed, I’m at least in some way planning an escape there. But even if you’re not a sleep freak like me, having your bedroom be your safe haven, and a true reflection of yourself, is key to sleeping and living well. So, we teamed up with Value City Furniture to create our own perfect bedroom…and our best night’s sleep.
There are many options at Value City (literally probably a whole city’s worth) so if you’re a person who loves options, you’re pretty much set. If you are an organization freak (me) then all their search options online make it easy to sort and categorize all of your pretty bedroom dreams. If you’re a Pinterest devotee (also me) then there is lots of inspiration thanks to their Bedroom Getaway collection. I started there and then went on my own mission for sleeptime nirvana.
PICK YOUR PERFECT BED
This is where the magic happens (get your mind out of the gutter!) A good night’s sleep truly starts and ends with the bed, but it can also be the host for serious Netflix binges, catching up on your favorite read or even a late night snack. I have never been a good sleeper, with lots of tossing and turning and always being overheated. I am the girl who runs her window unit AC all year long. So when I found out there was a mattress that not only had comfortable support, but also a magical substance SurfaceCool™ Fiber that dissipates heat away from the surface, I was sold. This baby is seriously comfortable and call me crazy but I really do think it’s been keeping me cooler at night! Pair it with my first ever grown-up headboard, and I had created the perfect center to my room.
CHOOSE YOUR DRESSER & CO
For someone with as many clothes and beauty products as me (and probably many of you as well) you know that good storage space is key to keeping your room clean and looking stylish. I finally made the upgrade from the Ikea basics I’d been using since graduating college for an actual dresser this spring – and ended up with more storage than I thought! My favorite heels and flats now get tucked safely under the dresser and I ended up with more drawer space too! Hellooooo finally getting to separate my socks and bras and swimsuits into different drawers. I also had a “lightbulb” moment and finally got a bedside light for when I stay up late catching up on my latest book club assignment.
FINISH WITH YOUR FAVORITE ACCENTS
One day I will have a bedroom large enough to truly move in there and never leave (aka my own apartment) but until then, my roommates have to deal with me camping out in the living room sometimes for a change of scenery. As far as I’m concerned, couches are for napping – they are the second bed. So that leaves comfy chairs for everything else, including my morning coffee, reading InStyle and writing this blog. So, from my chair extension of my bed…Good night and sweet dreams!
