Happy Tuesday, L&C-ers!
I am thrilled and humbled to officially announce I’ll be assisting in bringing you the low down on everything windy and wonderful in Chicago! Hailing from the Windy City suburbs, then transplanting to Missouri for college, I’ve finally ventured into a cozy apartment by Wrigley Field. Through bottomless mimosa brunches, impromptu adventures, endless shopping and deep dish pizza, this city and all its magic has captured my heart.
I’m introducing myself in true L&C fashion by sharing all the places, people and things that keep me “Chi”-spired everyday, and so without further a due:
Favorite thing to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon:
Wogging on the Lakeshore Drive Bike Path. And yes, that’s “wog,” for a walking jog, because even though I’m impressively unathletic, with the stunning view of Chicago’s towering buildings and legendary skyscrapers poised against the lake, it’s not hard to keep running a little longer than originally planned.
Favorite dancing spot:
Columbia, Missouri certainly isn’t the south, but when you’ve lived there for four years you’ll pick up more than just “ya’lls,” and this country bar in Chicago has never failed my MIZ heart. It had me at “Wagon Wheel” and since moving just a few blocks away, this BBQ haven has become my home base.
Go-To Chicago Cocktail:
Anything on Rock It Bar & Grill‘s menu. With a wide assortment of beer (I’m a self-confessed beer diva), and a margarita that is indisputably the best I’ve ever had, this classy venue is a must on any trip to Chi. Also, their burgers are the things of LEGENDS.
My creative process always begins with caffeine, and my favorite hub to get ideas flowing is Emerald City Coffee. There are books for reading, couches for cozy-ing and most importantly, beautiful coffee for drinking.
I live for Bub City Brunch on Sunday mornings after a late night of dancing.
I’m a slave to the Magnificent Mile, and consider it a personal accomplishment the sales associates at H&M know me on a first name basis.
My favorite date spot is a toss-up between RA Sushi and Madhouse on Madison.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is my favorite way to consume calories, and pick-up games of volleyball at Oak Street Beach are my #1 way to burn them.
My guiltiest pleasure is selfie-ing at the Bean & deepest regret is not having explored the skydeck on the Sears…I mean…Willis Tower yet.
Stay tuned for more Chicago favorites and adventures!
