With St. Patrick’s Day less than a month away and spring (hopefully) almost upon Chicago, there are still plenty of fun events to take advantage of while the snow is on the ground! I have a full schedule of events for the party-lover as well as Windy City do-good-ers right here…
Start your weekend with a bang at the MODA “In Bloom” spring fashion show on Friday, February 21st. The show features collections from local designers as well as up-and-coming student designers from the University of Chicago. The night begins with hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and live performances by musical talent & DJ’s before the catwalk. MODA is a non-profit student organization at the University of Chicago that works to showcase fashion on campus, promote Chicago’s fashion scene, and is a student resource for students. Go to http://bit.ly/MODA2014 for tickets.
After the fashion show, head to STATE in Lincoln Park for a night dedicated to raising money for CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates. To benefit the charity check in at the host stand under “CASA” or “Theta” and choose between two drink packages to go towards the aid of young children in the court system. You can donate a minimum of $1 or more to CASA and drink free vodka from 10pm-11pm, or donate $30 for a 9pm-1am wristband package with a portion of every wristband sold going to CASA. Get gussied up the next day while benefitting another great cause! “Makeup for the Museum” is hosted by Chicago boutique Edith Hart to benefit the Chicago Children’s Hospital. From 1-5 pm attendees can enjoy champagne as well hair styling and makeup tutorials before we all head out for the evening! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
More fashion is literally in store at Bloomingdale’s on North Michigan Avenue, Old Orchard and the Medinah Home Store. From Friday, February 28 through Sunday, March 2 the retailer hosts a “Fashionable Fundraiser” where stylish shoppers can take 15% off great selections of the latest clothes, accessories and more in-store and online. You can also take 20% off when you spend $300 or more on your Bloomingdale’s card, which really isn’t hard to do, given all of the great new styles they get in. There will be a DJ and light bites to inspire your spring shopping!
You can then start your St. Patrick’s Day celebration early with St. Practice Day on March 8th in Old Town. The pub crawl through the neighborhood’s fun and casual bar scene from noon to 6 pm, all in the name of St. Patrick! You can purchase tickets at StPracticeDayCHI.com.
