This week is a packed one in Chicago for holiday themed events. For animal lovers, fashionistas and those who could use a reason to celebrate, there is festive cheer for one and all. We’ll be checking out a few of the events ourselves, so make sure not to miss them!
All this week, stop by the Shedd Aquarium for their Holiday Fantasea aquatic show, set to the Abbott Oceanarium’s Christmas lights. The sea lions and otters are my favorites, but the beluga whales and dolphins are sure to put on a good show!
Then if you need a new style for the holidays, Drybar will open in Lincoln Park on Friday, and continue the trend of blow dry bars sweeping the nation. With other such locations, including Trixie Girl Blow Dry Bar, already open in the Windy City, Drybar will be a welcome addition. Owner Alli Webb will bring her national chain here to offer blow outs, styling appointments and even looks for little ones. It’ll book up fast so swing by soon!
Also on Friday, the Grinch will come to town! Marco Foster and Underground nightclub will be hosting the charity event, “The Grinch Who Gave Back Christmas.” Guests of the event will be able to sip on holiday-themed cocktails, explore location’s newly renovated space, and even meet the green Grinch himself! All of the festivities will benefit the Brain Injury Association of Illinois, and tickets can be purchased here and start at $30.
On Saturday, perhaps one of the larger events of the year will take place in Wrigleyville. The Twelve Bars of Christmas, or “TBOX” for the locals, is a day long event that this year benefits the Lakeview Pantry. Costumes will abound in red and green, and range from everything including, Santa Claus to cartoon characters to elves to snowflakes. You can get tickets here and pick them up all week.
