When it comes to work wear, we’re all about following the “dress to impress” motto with a little sprinkle of the WWAWW (what would Anna Wintour wear?) motto. But as any working gal knows, sometimes the “dress to impress” part starts to slide off if you’ve been in the same routine for awhile. If you’re getting to the point in your work wardrobe rotation where you’re wondering if your co-workers would notice if you sported the same pants three times this week, it may be time to add a few pieces to refresh your closet. Here are our favorite ways to refresh your outfits without buying a whole new wardrobe (and don’t forget to shop the looks at the bottom).
1. A Printed Blouse
When it comes to office wear, there’s no easier way to liven up your outfit than with a printed blouse. Throw it under your trusty blazer or by itself with a skinny trouser and you’ll feel great about adding this new print to the outfit rotation.
2. A Beige Blazer
Take a break from the norm and opt from your typical black blazer to a beige one instead. There’s something about beige than instantly makes any outfit take on a more classic feel, and these two pieces are no exception.
3. Printed Trousers
Make “go bold” your new getting dressed motto by adding a pair of printed trousers to your work wardrobe. Pair them with a simple blouse and you’re set to run out the door in the morning with an A+ outfit.
4. A Statement Shoe
When it comes to shoes I follow the Sex and the City motto of “you can never have too many.” Add a statement shoe to your office appropriate outfit and you’ll be sporting a Carrie Bradshaw approved outfit in no time.
5. A Pencil Skirt
As any working gal knows, pencil skirts are work wear 101. If your wardrobe is feeling a little blah, add a fun printed skirt like this French Connection one, or a skirt with a fun side detail like this JCrew one, and your outfit will go from blah to BAM!
6. Wide Leg Trousers
I’ve been pretty obsessed with wide leg trousers lately (basically any way I can make my legs look a little longer is something I can’t help but love). Besides making us short girls appear a few inches taller, a great pair of wide leg pants are the perfect way to fall-proof your wardrobe and add a little style to your work wear.
7. Add a Belt to It
Accessories are an office girl’s best friend. If you’re on a budget and want to refresh your wardrobe, add a funky belt to your outfit to give it a little pizazz.
