L&C is a daily lifestyle website for women.
We believe in: Going after what you want, and learning from the people who have it; the power of the right outfit; working hard and playing hard; new experiences; beautiful places; boss ladies; and brunch. (Mimosa, plz.).
A sampling of what you’ll find around the site:
Meet the Team:
Kaitlin founded Lux & Concord in December 2012 after leaving a job as an editor at a lifestyle magazine to join an interior design one. As much as she loved (and still loves) home decor, she missed two things about her old job: One, interviewing awesome, inspiring people. And two, writing about broader lifestyle topics. So she started L&C as a way to continue to do both. By day, she still writes about design and decor, and spends her free time decorating her house, and working on L&C (best. hobbies. ever). She’s married to a guy she met in a bar, and they live together with their son and dog in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago.
Nicole Laverty, Senior Editor, Fashion
Born and raised just outside of Boston, Nicole recently graduated from Northeastern University. While attending school, Nicole moved to New York to pursue her fashion dreams, where she interned with Lucky Magazine, lending her fashion expertise to Luckymag.com. She now resides in Brooklyn where she is a social media and content manager for a boutique agency.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Kaleigh currently works in the Windy City’s food social media and marketing world, which is perfect for her cheese and chocolate-obsessed self. She is happy to be able to lend her pen (aka laptop) to Lux & Concord for food, event and fashion features. She loves the Cubs, Beyonce, Champagne, and sunflowers (if you need gift ideas). In addition to L&C, her work has also appeared in CheekyChicago, The EveryGirl, Mastercard’s Love This City blog, Glitter Guide, and Dining Out Chicago Magazine.
Ali Shelton, Editor, Wellness & Beauty
After growing up in the Chicagoland ‘burbs and transplanting to Missouri for college, Ali has settled into a cozy apartment in the heart of the Windy City. Masquerading as a media guru for her regular 9-5, she can be found working on an upcoming novel (!!!!), or word vomiting about the latest fitness trends on Lux & Concord into the wee hours of the night. If she’s not writing, she’s usually irresponsibly caffeinated, attempting to steal the nearest dog & rooting a little too loudly for her favorite Chicago sports teams.
Becky May, Editor-At-Large
Becky creates branded content for a digital publishing company in Los Angeles. Some of her recent clients have included Ford, OPI, Verizon and Sprint. When she’s not wearing her content marketing hat, she is hunkered down in an overpriced coffee shop, writing. In addition to writing for Lux and Concord, her work can be found in Hello Giggles, Profile, American Builders Quarterly and Modern Counsel.
Will Wilson, Contributor
Wilson is a contributing writer for L&C as our resident man-expert for his ongoing GuyTalk column. Will also writes lifestyle and Chicago-centered pieces for the website, Major Onions. A St. Louis native, he graduated from the University of Missouri school of Journalism and took a job as a Copywriter for a Chicago ad agency, following his dream addressing client feedback. He is a STL Cardinals fan, believes Whiskey is the only true liquor, and is not sorry about any of it.
