Beauty aficionados rejoice—over are the summer days of worrying about melting makeup and waterproof mascara. Fall is the best time to try out new makeup trends because you don’t have to worry about the heat of summer melting it away or the cold of winter drying you out. This season your face is your canvas and you’re free to experiment.
This fall is all about putting away your dark lipstick and opting for a more natural look. Here are 5 of our favorite trends straight from the fall runways, and how you can get the looks at home:
1. Full Brows
Take a cue from Cara D. and have your eyebrows make a bold statement. The easiest way to darken up your brows? Take an eyebrow pencil to your brows to intensify the natural arch and add some color. This look was featured at Rodarte, where the models sported exaggerated, darkened brows and all over brown shadow.
2. Metallic Lids
Donna Karan’s fall show was all about metallics for fall. This look will brighten up your eyes and will work perfectly for a night out on the town.
Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury used M.A.C.’ Pigment Shadow in the Platinum (metal) shade.
3. Doll-like Lashes
Channel you inner 60’s glam girl with this spider lash look featured at Gucci.
First you’ll need a taupe eyeshadow for the base and a jet-black eye pencil to outline along with a liquid liner to intensify (make sure to start thick at the corners and go lighter as you continue down the eye-line). Finally use false lashes for both the top and bottom lids to create a doll-like appearance.
4. Ballerina Chic
At Chloé makeup artist Diane Kendal used MAC Beautiful Iris to create this glowing look. Matte skin and simple, glossed lips make sure the eyes are the center of attention. This look is super simple to pull off and is a great way to stray from your typical daytime look.
Isabel Marant took French girl cool to a new level with this fresh faced look. While this look may appear effortless, it actually requires seven steps to get it perfect, but as any girl knows the “natural” look always calls for way more makeup than you would expect.
