In the past, I’ve been a bit skeptical of designer collaborations — they don’t always live up to the hype. But that doesn’t mean I’m not completely intrigued each time a new one is announced. At the moment, all eyes are on Target, and their recently announced holiday gift collaboration with the CFDA and super-luxe Neiman Marcus. I have to admit, I’m pretty excited about this one. For one, the collection will be sold at both Target AND Neiman Marcus, which means the line will have to hit the sweet spot between quality and price right on the nose. Plus, there will be items from 24 different designers — Judith Leiber, Tracy Reese, Robert Rodriguez, Alice & Olivia and Marchesa are just a few of the names who’ve signed on — are each creating an original holiday gift. Today, the stores released a video about the upcoming line — and it looks like it’s going to be pretty awesome. In fact, Target’s SVP of merchandising called the collection “some of the most fantastic items I’ve ever seen.” Do you think the partnership will live up to the hype?
