Between last minute Christmas shopping, holiday party prepping and the daily nine-to-five grind, ain’t nobody got time ‘fo hair, AMIRIGHT?
Usually I’m right (hah), but I recently paired up with the fabulous Chicago stylist, Samantha Evans of Stranded Beauty & Barber, in order to prove all of you head-nodders wrong and make sure that you show up to that holiday party with a ‘do that turns heads even when you’re have precisely zero time (ok, hopefully you have at least 10 minutes).
It gets even better: we’re using old, sometimes broken, but always beautiful, jewelry pieces to make your hair styling not just speedy, but stand out, even in a crowd. And it will probably be free since we’re recommending you scavenge through your old jewelry box and pull out a piece you’d previously thought you’d never use again.
In the spirit of spending less, but looking fabulous, here are 4 looks that I and our other Chicago Editor, Kaleigh, have tested- and proven- take less than 10 minutes.
Modern Twist With Broken Necklace
Step 1: Section off everything before the ear on the heavier side of your hair.
Step 2: Grab remaining hair and brush toward the heavier side of the hair. Start twisting the hair as you reach the ear. Place bobby pin underneath the roll with the open end facing upward.
Step 3: Take remaining hair and while twisting, pull over the roll and place along side. Secure with a bobby pin.
Step 4: Take necklace and decide where you want to place it, secure it with pins. Then hairspray and go!
Suggested Products: Doo.Over to create volume and texture Session.Spray for hold
Crown Braid With Vintage Beads
Step 1: Start the french braid where desired. I went with a crown braid.
Step 2: After securing braid with a bobby pin, pull the sides of the braid to loosen it up and make it fuller.
Step 3: Take top of beads and pin them inside the beginning of the braid. Then weave in and out of the braid.
Step 4: Tie end of beads to the bottom of the braid then spray and go!
Suggested Products: Powder.Puff to create texture with the braid, Session.Spray for hold
A Pony And A Brooch
Step 1: Section hair from ear to ear and clip away.
Step 2: Use a brush and brush hair into a smooth high ponytail.
Step 3: Take left out hair and tease slightly to create volume. Pull back into small bouffant and pin into place.
Step 4: Wrap remaining hair around the ponytail and add Vintage Brooch to the side. Then spray and go!

Clip on Earring Side Cluster
Step 1: Style hair as desired, straight or wavy.
Step 2: Take gel and slick one side tightly back. Then secure with bobby pins in an ‘X’ pattern.
