As your resident fitness editor, and ever-aspiring health nut, I’ve been delving into some trends sweeping the industry, and picking out the ones that worked. No, like actually worked- as in I tried them, and can’t say enough good things about them because I’ve experienced noticeable results that I couldn’t be more stoked about.
So, whether you’re like me- on a perpetual quest to become my best self- or needing to trim down and shape up for a specific weekend, or whatever reason you’re actively pursuing adding healthy habits to your daily routine, below are some recommendations that helped me get a step closer to where I want to be:
1. ResetYourself 21 Day Cleanse
Does anyone else hear about someone trying a juice cleanse and immediately question their sanity for committing to not eating solid food for five consecutive days? Like, good for you, but ya girl likes calories you can chew. And my other favorite past time is not starving myself.
Needless to say, you probably won’t read about me reviewing a juice cleanse any time soon. But if you’re looking for a different kind of detox, look no further than Reset Yourself. It’s an incredibly cool and upcoming brand that is dedicated to helping their clients become the best possible version of themselves (I’m obviously a fan). The 21 day commitment starts by using a hair sample to create a profile of your health and nutrition needs. Then, you pow-wow with an expert and talk about how to meet your goals and needs through what you’re eating, drinking and consuming every day. They provide meal plans, grocery lists, and break down everything in an incredibly easy-to-follow way. If you’re looking to shed those last few pounds, clear up your complexion, and have more energy in your day-to-day, I wouldn’t recommend another product more than this one.
The only downside to this one was that it has a pretty steep price point, and while they include grocery lists, they don’t actually provide the food. If you’re ready to commit to a lifestyle change though and are willing to front the money to do so, Rest Yourself is your answer.
2. Equinox Workouts
So, I have a major brand crush on Equinox– their gyms are unbelievable (seriously, go follow them on Instagram), and they’ve been launching some events that are so cool, I’ve gotten out of bed to go to them. On purpose. Before 6am. And that’s saying something.
I’m not a morning person, but Equinox’s morning yoga sessions on the J. Parker in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood will turn even the most severe pre-coffee gremlins like myself into a morning person. (Ok, Morning person may be a stretch , but will inspire us to get out of bed to go do yoga.) The workout I tried was a perfect combination of AM meditation to prepare for the day, mixed with a unique Vinyasa flow that was difficult enough to keep me awake during the wee hours of the morning that are usually dedicated to catching Z’s.
They’re also offering summer boot camps to provide one last kick of motivation for summer beach days, as well as sunrise barre, guaranteed to tighten, and tone muscles through ballet-inspired moves and isometric training. If there was ever a better reason to get up early, I can’t think of one.
3. Snap Kitchen
Between a full time job, full-time blogging, training for a marathon, attempting to have a semi-normal social life, and getting a minimal amount of sleep most nights, I’m a little stretched for time. And to top it off, my talent in the kitchen is comparable to that of an infant, so grabbing food on the go has become a regular part of my routine, which is relatively difficult with my aforementioned attempt at creating a healthier lifestyle. I’m eternally searching for food that’s quick, easy and also healthy- basically the unicorn of the health industry.
Enter Snap Kitchen: A hybrid of smart meals, gourmet restaurants, and your favorite meal from Mom. From Bison breakfast, to Scottish Salmon, and even vegetable lasagna- everything is fresh, healthy, and amazingly delicious. They offer 3 different sizes of meals- each unique to the number of calories an individual is trying to consume on a daily basis. Not to mention that each container is both 100% made from recycled material, and is ready to be microwaved instantly- no need for excess plates or dish-washing.
And just in case that wasn’t convincing enough to head to your nearest Snap Kitchen, they have brownies that are sub 300 calories, are delicious and gluten-free. Because clearly, I’m not down with a diet that doesn’t include brownies.
4. ZSS Skincare
My last product I’m going to word vomit about is actually a detox for your skin courtesy of ZSS Skincare, a company devoted to making skin beautiful from the inside out through innovative products and meticulous research. They have recently launched a new detox that offers 2 different methods to better skin; one clear and the other radiant, where both contain a topical serum to help achieve that methods’ unique goals. The product boasts that users have experienced a 60% reduction in the appearance of deep lines after only 3 months of use.
Our other Chicago Editor, Kaleigh Glaza, actually tried this one out and said that she noticed the line reduction, as well as a general improvement of complexion and acne. ZSS has definitely received the Lux & Concord stamp of approval!
