For years, nail art was the beauty equivalent of mom jeans: tacky, ugly and only worn by suburban moms. Remember those airbrushed, neon, palm-tree designs that decorated acrylic talon-nails in the 90s? Woof. They left a big scar on our collective memory, and it took everyone a while to get over it. But we finally have. Nail art is back, and in a big way. The good news is, it’s been totally re-interpreted.
So grab an artistic, patient friend, and try one of these awesome nail designs.
1. Margiela nails. I’ve got kiiiind of a huge thing for Maison Martin Margiela. So, in my humble opinion, you just cannot beat this nail design by The Illustrated Nail, inspired by the cryptic tags of Margiela’s clothing. (via HighSnobette)
2. Yves Saint Laurent nails. Blogger Elizabeth Monson is arguably the best nail-artist art on the web. Proof? Check out her nail design inspired by YSL’s latest resort collection.
3. Hunger Games nails. Obsessed with “The Hunger Games?” Show off your love of all things Katniss with nail-art inspired by the hit movie/book series. Check out the video tutorial, here.
