If there’s one piece I’m going to invest in each fall, it has to be a killer jacket.
After 24 years of living in the Northeast, I’ve come to realize that you can never own too many coats. The rain coat. The sunny fall afternoon coat. The chilly morning commute to work coat. The below zero coat. There is a place for all of these, and more, in the wardrobe of a New Englander. (Plus, once the temps drop below 50, a good coat will be the one thing in your wardrobe you’re guaranteed to wear everyday).
The good news? There are no shortage of practical (and stylish!) coats to choose from this season. Here are 24 of my favorites:
1. The Cape Jacket
Très chic, no? It’s perfect for strolling the city on those lovely mid-50s afternoons.
2. Drapey Jacket
Pair with your favorite slouchy pants and blouse and you’ll be on trend all season. Bonus: drapey jackets allow for lots of layers underneath.
3. The Long Jacket
Who said that fall jackets have to be neutral tones only, why not mix it up with a little primary color.
4. The Oversized Jacket
Whether it’s an oversized blazer jacket or an oversized slouchy jacket, the bigger the better this season!
5. The Parka
What’s better on one of those chilly fall mornings than throwing on your favorite parka?
6. The Printed Jacket
Perfect for the early days of Fall when you are looking to make a statement with your ensemble.
7. The Textured Jacket
Can’t you just see Olivia Palermo rocking one of these on the streets on NYC?
8. The Trench
Whether you’re opting for a simple tie at the waist coat, or a button up peacoat style, this style will work for any occasion.
